This one has not made much news outside of the conservative blogosphere. It is the newest executive order signed by Barack Obama.
Anyone nervous yet?

On March 16th, President Obama signed a new Executive Order which expands upon a prior order issued in 1950 for Disaster Preparedness, and gives the office of the President complete control over all the resources in the United States in times of war or emergency.
The National Defense Resources Preparedness order gives the Executive Branch the power to control and allocate energy, production, transportation, food, and even water resources by decree under the auspices of national defense and national security. The order is not limited to wartime implementation, as one of the order's functions includes the command and control of resources in peacetime determinations.
I am not an alarmist but the idea of the Obama regime having total control over anything is disturbing. No it isn’t disturbing, it is totally, freaking scary.

The economy of the United States is based on the free flow of resources, energy, and the rights of consumers to buy and sell as they see fit. Any interference in this economic process quickly leads to shortages, rising prices, and civil unrest. The purpose of President Obama signing this new Executive Order is yet unclear, however, it may coincide with information coming out of Israel yesterday that plans for a tactical or strategic strike on Iran are accelerating. Oil prices in Europe rose over $3 a barrel for Brent crude after the Israeli actions, and US oil prices rose $2 for WTI.
The Obama administration appears to be preparing for a long drawn out war in the Middle East, or at the very least, an expected crisis that will require the need to override Constitutional authority and claim dominion over all resources in the United States under the guise of national defense. With the rise in Disaster Preparedness growing for both individuals and states leading up to yesterday's Executive Order, the mood of the nation points strongly towards some event or disaster that will require massive preparations on a national as well as local scale.
Any one really nervous yet?
Given the cavalier way the Obama regime tends to ignore the Constitution, the thought of the Regime having emergency powers is a nightmare.

Liberals (at least, the smart ones) know this; it's one of the reasons they dislike and feel uncomfortable with the military .... because they know they don't have the level and degree of control over that American institution the way they hold sway over the media - and they likely never will.
SO .... any "event" or "incident" that is used as a tripwire to bring about the kind of change this Executive Order implies, would have to convince the military of its' legality and constitutional veracity - as well as rely on the support of the Supreme Court and certain parts of Congress.
For example: the intelligence oversight organs of both Congress and the Defense Department would have to be so aligned with Obama's agenda that they would willingly follow his lead during any "incident" or "event"; and, believe me, Barack Obama does NOT enjoy the general support of the military, or most of the intelligence community. They see him the same way most of America does; as a very poor leader, who operates under a desire to change America from what it is under his own agenda, to something it's not meant to be.
When the rubber hits the road - IF the rubber hits the road in this particular scenario - things will NOT go the way they do in banana republics.
Having said all this, however ... this is further proof that Obama needs to LOSE the White House - he is easily this century's most DANGEROUS President - not only for freedom interests abroad, but also at home. He MUST be defeated in November; like Mark Levin, I also believe that this country may not survive four more years of Obama. I really don't think we can recover from something like that.
So .... let's get to work, and keep working to keep our republic!

I remain concerned ... because I believe the Obama Regime capable of trying ANYTHING to retain power. However, I also remain confident our Guardians nor our citizens will stand for unconstitutional NAKED tyranny.

The situation is not clear cut. There are 2 Oaths, sir. One is for officers which contains no mention of the President. The other is for enlisted (non-commissioned) soldiers and the US National Guard which stipulates obeying the "...THE ORDERS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES...".

Remember Obama's campaign speech proposing a civilian "Force" as large as the US military? In the event a rogue Commander-in-Chief wished to by-pass the officers' corps, an option exists involving dismissal (firing) of the current Army, AF, and Navy officers and place existing non-comm soldiers under DHS leaders. That point, he would have a "civilian Force" without direct Constitutional provisions to worry about.
BTW ... The United States Coast Guard (USCG) also swears to obey "...THE ORDERS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES..." and is directly responsible to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which is a civilian, Executive Cabinet office.

Permalink Reply by Thomas Angle on But they are all bound by the Constitution. But this is not a new issue. During the Clinton administration. I believe they polled a group of Marines and asked them if they would bear arms against citizens. I believe the outcome was 25% yes and 75% no. Also, the belief in some circle of the military is that they will stand done the military and use UN forces.
But the real question in my mind is why has not the military went to congress and stated that they will fulfill their oath? This makes me believe that the military leaders are in agreement with the direction the country is going.

... and none know they are bound by the Constitution if they are dumb enough to assume the President is always in the Right and never violates the Constitution (which most have never read, nor understood if they ever did read it).
BTW.. the polling of US servicemen has continued. Since 1993, there has been a big shift toward saying yes, they 'would shoot American civilians'. There are people trying to bring that trend back toward the side of loyal America.
