Another sign of the great Obama depression
As if we need any further signs that we are in the Great Obama Depression, we got another one today.
From USA Today:
The cars and trucks in America's driveways have reached a record old age, but there are signs that people are growing confident enough in the economy to want a whiff of that new-car scent.
The average age of the cars and trucks on U.S. roads hit a record 10.8 years as of July 1, 2011, as worries about job security the economy kept many people from making big-ticket purchases.
That's up from 10.6 years in 2010, and it and continues a trend that dates to 1995, when the average age of a car was 8.4 years, according to the Polk research firm, which studied state vehicle registrations.
Polk said the average age of a car in the U.S. last year was 11.1 years, while the average truck was 10.4 years old.
But Polk Vice President Mark Seng says a rebound in sales last year and expected growth the next couple of years is likely to slow the aging trend. Polk has not predicted if or when the age will start to drop, but Seng doesn't see that happening for two or three years, if not longer.
"It's going to take the good economy several years of very high sales again, and people being willing to let go of those older vehicles that they've been holding onto," Seng said.
Our cars and trucks are aging because Obama, Pelosi and Reid have wrecked the economy and we cannot afford to go out and buy new cars.
Cars have always been one of the symbols of the American dream and American freedom. We can go out on the road, any place we want, anytime we want.
If Obama had his way, we would all be buying crappy electric cars, which will only go 50 miles or so before they have to be recharged. That process will take quite a while.
America needs a stimulus to get us going. Newt Gingrich has suggested crashing the price of oil as a tool to bring Iran to its knees, but crashing the price of oil so that the price of gas drops to a dollar a gallon or less will be the kind of stimulus that will get America going again and get Americans buying new cars again.
As we look at our aging cars, trying to figure out how to keep them going for another year, we do need to remember the truism about economics. A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose yours.
A recovery is when Obama loses his.

How come we can not see obama's college records? Did obama take foreign aid to go to occidental college from the fullbright foundation who only gives money to those who claim foreign citizenship as a foreigner? The mainstream media is controlled by the elites who placed Obama into office. Information usually can be found on the internet regarding the above matter, but the mainstream media, including conservative hosts will not mention anything other than what is already known, such as Bill Ayers,Frank Marshall, etc. What we have to concentrate on now is demanding that our representatives join together to overturn Obama's illegal, unconstitutional; recess appointments and orders.

jean this series of videos opens a lot I had no idea about and will need to delve into it more. The silliest question by a reporter was asking why Sinclair cared if the president did these things. I bet she does not get that most voters would care and see this as a reflection of base character. Does it matter as with all other cover ups about his life that he hides, jives and lies.

Obama registered at Occidental as a foreign student! He is the only president who has sealed all of his records. I think there should be a law against that. I am outraged that this scam happened. Where was Congress?

It's great that he is called. But what makes you think he will appear. So far he has broken every law in the constitution. He'll ignore it because he knows that he can get away with it. I have no hope in this.

A society dependent on public transport is easier to control. Socialists/communists HATE cars because they represent the liberty of the individual. Obama's transportation czar has made it well known that he wants to force/coerce people out of their cars and onto public transportation and bicycles. Not sure what the elderly and handicapped are supposed to do but maybe there won't be any of us useless eaters in the future.

In the Nordic socialist bastians of Europe, there are small cities and towns, where cars are band and most people ride bicycles. Many rural towns do not have public transportation, either.
Simply stated, the elderly are left to struggle in their surrounding areas. But here perhaps the death panels will hasten those problems to go away.
Did anyone ever wonder, why when we talk about many countries under tyranny tend to report that the majority of their populations are under the age of 30, like in Iran? I wonder where their seniors are??
