There is one constant in the universe. Government programs do not work. The lunacy is that we keep trying to make government programs work when we know they will fail again and again.
What is the latest?
It is the news that Social Security and Medicare are running towards insolvency.
From USA Today:
The lifespan of Social Security trust fund has been shortened three years because of high energy prices and a slow economy, trustees said Monday.
Social Security benefits will now run out in 2033, said its trustees in an annual report released today.
The Medicare fund for seniors' health care is scheduled to run dry in 2024, which is unchanged from last year, largely because of a 2 percentage point cut enacted by Congress last year.
But the trustees wrote in their report that "Medicare's actual future costs are highly uncertain and are likely to exceed those shown" by existing data.
"Lawmakers should not delay addressing the long-run financial challenges facing Social Security and Medicare," the trustees wrote in their report.
They added: "If they take action sooner rather than later, more options and more time will be available to phase in changes so that the public has adequate time to prepare."
Gee another government program that is not working.
What a shock!
Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain both campaigned on the idea of using the Chilean model for private retirement funds. Guess what? The Chilean program works and ours does not.
Perhaps that is a clue that we should try something different.
Insanity has been defined as trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We need a different result and trying new government programs is not going to give us a different result.
We need a new mindset. We need a new paradigm.
But the only way we are ever going to get it is with new leadership. We must replace the Obama, Pelosi, Reid axis of fiscal evil and put Tea Party leadership in their place.
Only then are we going to get different results.

Like Corzine that "Lost $1.3 Billion of Stockholder's Money". The solution is to go into Corzine's "Personal Account" and take $1.3 Billion and distribute to the stockholders and "when John locates the stockholders money that "he lost" he can reimburse himself ! This is what "Managment responsibility looks like" !

Thanks to Jimmy Carter, he was the one that gave approval for the immigrants to receive Social Security legal or un-legal. Lots of people come to this country when the turn of age and start receiving Social Security and all sort of benifits for free off the tax payer because we are nice people...Bull..I had enough of that.

Unfortunately they were ineffective on the economy, because if anything they increased the uncertainty to business with short term tinkering of the tax code, undermining any renewal of momentum to the economy, but shortened the funding of these two entitlements, with prospective future tax increases looming in the near future to fully fund them.
The Three Stoogies in this drama are Obama, Democrats and RINO Republicans like Boehner, McConnell, with honorable mention of Darryll Issa for dropping the Fast and Furious investigation just when he was within reach of Eric Holder for his contribution to the killing of at least 2 border agents, Terry and Zapata, and probably more than 300 Mexican nationals by now.

It's amazing how the limp-wristed Liberals paraded their banners of Hope and Change yet refuse to change anything other than their tax, spend and redistribution idiocy.
As we see more evidence of the European Union collapsing, under the weight of its debt, our economic recovery looks grim. Spain's faltering economy will create another wave of Central Bank intrusion rather than allowing the system to collapse. Today their bond yields rose over 6% again. Now the Netherlands have tendered their government's resignation on Monday in a crisis over budget cuts and further austerity measures. They backed the EU's fiscal treaty and even lectured Greece on getting its finances in order. Their AAA rating, one of the few remaining in the EU, is in question. The elections in France seem doomed to Socialist, Francois Hollande, being the inevitable winner which will result in further refusal to austerity. A perfect storm is brewing as the grand Socialist experiment is finally failing, as it must, in Europe. Elections in France, Greece and now most likely the Netherlands put into jeopardy any significant economic improvement for the next 2 years. As Europe is our biggest trade partner we already see weakness developing here.
Tomorrow the Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting will more than likely address more monetary easing (i.e. QE3) in a further desperate attempt to delay the inevitable. Don't be surprised if this is heavily promoted to save Barrack Hussein's dysfunctional economic policy.
Our concerns about Social Security and Medicare's solvency may be a moot point. The debt ceiling will most likely need to be addressed again during the election rather than early next year as planned. Another downgrade may be the straw that finally breaks the global economies back.
Buckle up my fellow Americans, it's going to be a very bumpy ride.
Obama, Pelosi and Reid aren't the only ones that need replacing, John and Mitch along with a lot of republicrats need to go as well.
Permalink Reply by Thomas on It was not the fact that the money that was collected under the subterfuge of saving it in a "trust" fund that is now causing the problems. The money had to be spent if it was collected. It was the assinine idea to collect the money in the first place that was the most significant cause of today's problems.
The "list of infamy" at the bottom is a list of The Treasury's "trust" funds. The balances in the funds are nothing more than a stack of IOU's--bookkeeping entries--cataloging money that We, the people will eventully have to pay in additional taxes through the IRS to The Treasury so the agency for whom The Treasury is holding the funds "in trust" can cash in the IOU's in order to have actual money that can then be used to provide the prescribed federal government services for Us, the people.
Is this a list of federal government scams? Of course. And they have nothing to do with Ponzi. They are in-your-face blatant ripoffs that capitalize on the innate trust of the American people for what they mistakenly think is their federal government. These so-called "trust funds" are just out and out larceny on the grandest scale that larceny has ever been perpetrated. Is it criminal? Absolutely. But Congress and Presidents have made it legalized crimes because the laws authorizing the thievery were passed and signed into law in accordance with Constitutionally defined processes.
And guess what? There are more than two hundred other federal agency trust funds for which the money has already been spend but which are being held in agency paper by the agencies and being "funded" with anticipated future budget authorizations.
The United States Federal Government is the largest and most lucrative organized crime syndicate that has ever existed and the board of directors of the syndicate is the "Congress" that We, the people, delude ourselves into believing we elected so Congress would represent us. Ain't we simpleminded?

Permalink Reply by Roni Smith on And it wouldn't hurt one bit if Obama paid of the IOU's in the SS budget, especially the ones he wrote. Social Security is a Government Contract, and if it runs out, I will go to court and sue, and would advise all others affected to do the same.
We were promised that after age 64, we would receive checks monthly to help us when we stopped working. It was supposed to be in a lock box. The Gov. took it out of the lock box and used the money to pay for their own programs. If they do nort put the money, we will break our contract with them, and seize their pensions, homes, vehicles and bank accounts. They are criminals breaking our contract.
