Work From Home

Congratulations.  Yesterday was your day.  Yesterday, you became the 61st Speaker of the House of Representatives.  That is an exclusive and elite club, perhaps second only to the Presidency.

Yesterday you celebrated.  Today, you get down to work.

As you get down to work, there are a few things to remember.   You did not become Speaker because America suddenly fell in love with you or the Republican Party.  You became Speaker because America, led by the Tea Party, repudiated Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the party of socialism.

What does the Tea Party and America want you to do?

First, STOP SPENDING MONEY!

Make serious and meaningful cuts in the budget.     Waste fraud and abuse should be a top target, but there is only so much you can cut in those areas.  Other areas of the budget are going to have to be cut and you are going to have to figure out what to do with Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.   Those items account for almost 40% of government spending and the systems are broke. You are going to anger a lot of senior citizens when you start talking about this, but the simple fact is, the liberals stole the money from social security a long time ago.  You are now the guy who gets to clean up the mess.

Yesterday, David Bossie of Citizens United offered an open letter in the Daily Caller, saying that you should quickly do your symbolic vote of repealing Obamacare and move on to other things, like job creation.  You cannot create jobs when the government is making it more and more difficult to do so and Obamacare is forcing cost decisions onto employers that they are resolving by not hiring.

We all know the vote to repeal Obamacare is just that, symbolic.  However, you must push that fight.  After you vote on the bill, which Harry Reid will never allow to be voted on in the Senate, you must defund Obamacare.  It is not negotiable.  Not only is it what the American people want, it is the only way we can survive.

In 1993, the Clinton Administration proposed HillaryCare.  In my home state of Tennessee, we had a brain dead moron of a governor who wanted to curry favor with the administration so he and the Democratic controlled legislature voted to create something called Tenncare.  It almost bankrupted the state.

For the last two years, the party of socialism has been on a spending bender.   That bill has now come due.  We cannot simply raise the debt ceiling again.   The debt is now $14 trillion.  The only thing worse than defaulting on the debt at $14 trillion is defaulting on the debt at $20 trillion.

There would be terrible consequences if we default on our debt, but we cannot keep on borrowing money.  We have to live within our means.

Finally, we need a stimulus for this economy.  We cannot spend our way out of this economic disaster, but we can grow our way out of it.  We need tax cuts to stimulate the economy.  Pass them.  If Harry Reid is stupid enough to kill them in the Senate, then so be it.

In 1981, Ronald Reagan came to Washington.  He campaigned on conservative values.  He could have come to Washington and just played the go along game with the liberals, led by your predecessor, Tip O’Neal, and the RINOs in the Republican party and not made any waves.  Instead, he fought hard for conservative values and we revere him today as one of the greatest Presidents of all time.

You have your Reagan moment now.  You can simply be a nice guy and compromise on legislation and the agenda.  And you might not be speaker in two years.  Or you can stand firm for a strong conservative agenda.   If you fight, it will be a bloody fight, but when you look at the great leaders of the past, they did not compromise.  They fought.

What will it be?   Do you have the Reagan in you?

Great letter The cuts need to be done today so we do not have to raise the debt limit
Well written, Judson Phillips!
Bravo.
Under the separation of powers doctrine, I do not believe the courts have the authority to order the House of representatives to appropriate money for anything.  That may not stop some liberal judge from going off the reservation, but I believe that is the law, so we should be able to defund all of it.  If the GOP has the will.
Lisa, in the Constitution, Article 1, Section 7, the House of Representatives is given "the power of the purse". They can fund or de-fund any government program at any time. Granted, unless a miracle happens, we will not be able to repeal ObamaCare before 2013, but we can, as Judson wrote, cast a symbolic vote against it for the record, and then cut all funding of it. This is another reason why it is important to not raise the debt ceiling, which would permit funding of ObamaCare and lots of other rubbish.

Ron,

As I've mentioned before:  The Biggest Scam In History.mht  check it ot when you get a chance.

I moved my Ass---ets off-shore 40 years ago to the Cayman Islands. I divide that word intentionally.

I actually moved there back in 99' to be quite literally with my assets.

We have returned 2 years ago to the US when we both saw this Sleeping Giant waking.  Joined the Tea Party Express and am "Full Timing" it on-the-road (Attached).

We're in Corpus Christi at the moment and have had a good "beginning" Tea Party meeting here. We're back on-the-road headiing to Houston for a month and west to San Antonio. Busy schedule with setting up Grassroot groups which grow into their own Tea Party's.

I just joined the Tea Party Nation group and enjoy the exchange of idea's on freedom.

I have always thought that the House of Representatives was in control of the purse strings when it came to paying for things.  I do not expect too much to be done about the health care bill (notice I will not call it by the horrible name that it has been given) until 2013.  But like Judson, I do think it's important that the house cast a symbolic vote against it for the record & then cut all funding of it.  That's what the house of representatives has the power to do. IMHO, the government should not be given any more money..b/c they will simply waste it like they have been doing for the past 2 yrs.  I cannot see them changing their actions at this stage of the game. And I do not trust any of the people in the government...and that does include all Republicans as well as Democrats & any other party that you can think of.
We should still pressure the Senate to continue to fight for freedom and never give an inch for them that take it.
If we want to become compassionate conservatives we could get rid of Medicare and use money to help only the truly poor who need help to pay for health care and set up a fund for catastrophic illnesses so we can help those people and the rest including me are on their own.  We can buy insurance or pay for it out of pocket.  As far as social security is concerned we shouuld eliminate all those people including me who don't need that money for food, clothing, and shelter.
SOUND LIKE YOU ARE MULTI BILLIONAIRE !. IF YOU CAN PROVE ANYTHING TO REPLACE MEDICARE AND THAT WILL BE GREAT OR EVEN GREATER !. HOW MANY OF AMERICANS JUST LIKE YOU AS MULTI BILLIONAIRE ? . THINK ABOUT IT WE ALL AMERICANS  SHARES WHAT WE  NEED BETTER MEDICARE AND MEDICAL FOR EVERYONES, NO ONE  LEFT OUT !. CONGRESS PEOPLE GET  ALMOST EVERYTHING FOR FREE !. BUT  US -AMERICANS DON'T AND  WE ALL ARE TAX PAYERS TOO- ARE ALL CONGRESS REALLY AS "TAX PAYERS " . YOU BETTER FIND OUT !.

They have made many of us dependent on SS and medicare. I had my own medical insurance and was forced into Medicare.  I say phaze both of them out.  Right now I need SS money to pay medicare and the $44 dollars left.

I'm not a millionarie nor are many others. Phase it out for those still able to plan and provide for  their own future.  Cut those who have never worked a day in their life in this country (not the dependents of someone who did) and those who can afford to do without it.

Who will judge who get what and who will pay to cover the poor? Remember the seniors pay for medicare it is taken out of there check and 85% of that money is being used for medicaid. So if they allow the seniors to keep that money and purchase there own insurance the goverment will need to raise taxes to cover all these people. So all this will do is switch where the money will come from to pay for these services. The biggest reason our healthcare has gone up is that we have millions of illegals who pay no taxes and abuse our hospitals, education & social services. The latest figure is that the American people are paying 300 to 400 billion dollars every year for healthcare, education & social service for all these illegals & there children. It is one thing to cover the America poor but why should we keep covering people who are not citizens.
