Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen the American justice system play out. There is one particular case that has grabbed the headlines with one militant group demanding that we forget all notions of due process and simply find someone guilty and have “justice” imposed.
There is one thing they have forgotten. What is it and what is the case?
The case is the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin case.
Zimmerman is the Florida man who as a part of his neighborhood watch followed Trayvon Martin one night. The resulting confrontation left Martin dead and Zimmerman in hiding, fearing for his life.
The race hucksters have come out of the woodwork. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have both been exploiting the case. The militant and racist New Black Panther Party, the 21st Century equivalent of the Ku Klux Klan has put a $10,000 bounty on Zimmerman, wanted dead or alive.
There is only one problem with the mob that has been demanding Zimmerman’s head.
Zimmerman may well have acted in self-defense.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Zimmerman lost sight of Martin while following him then as returning to his vehicle, encountered Martin again. According to Zimmerman, Martin asked him “Do you have a problem?” then added, “You do now.” According to Zimmerman, Martin then punched him, breaking his nose and then began pounding his head into the pavement.
The police arrived on the scene within two minutes of the shooting. Zimmerman had a bloody nose, lacerations on the back of his head and grass stains on the back of his clothes. In other words, the physical evidence supports Zimmerman’s claim he was attacked.
An eyewitness supports Zimmerman, saying he saw Martin on top of Zimmerman, pounding him.
American law is quite clear. You are allowed to use force to defend yourself when someone uses force against you. You can use deadly force against someone if you reasonably believe your attacker is using deadly force against you. Deadly force is force that will cause serious bodily injury or death.
If someone is smashing your head into a concrete sidewalk, that is deadly force.
The left wants to put the “Stand your ground” law on trial. The stand your ground law says that you do not have to retreat before using deadly force if you are in a position where your life is in danger. Leftists hate the stand your ground law and love any circumstance where they can make citizens vulnerable. Leftists everywhere want us to be defenseless.
Of course, the “Stand your ground” law does not apply here because Zimmerman was on his back. He could not retreat from Martin even if he wanted to.
The mob is demanding to know why Zimmerman was not arrested that night. It is simple. In order to arrest someone there must be probable cause to believe a crime was committed.
In this case, as the evidence is slowly leaking out, it is looking more and more like this is a true case of self-defense.
The American justice system works pretty well. There is a reason why it works and why it does not follow the whims of the mob. A grand jury will hear this evidence and if the evidence is what is now coming out in the media, the grand jury will probably say this was self-defense.
Unfortunately, those who are interested in exploiting this case for their own political advantage have whipped up the emotions of the mob to the point where justice maybe impossible.
I disagree with the he should of not followed him in the first place. He was watching the neighborhood. He should have followed until the police arrived. Martin is where he shouldn't have been, done something he shouldn't have done and paid the price. It was Martin that is at fault. The only fault I see in Zimmerman is that he let Martin get too close.
How was he somewhere he shouldn't have been? He was walking back to the house he was staying at, from the store. He wasn't on anyone's private property. Zimmerman had no business confronting him. I hope he goes to jail for manslaughter.
Now you are claiming Zimmerman confronted him, but it sounds like it might have been the other way around. Or perhaps Zimmerman used his nose to confront Martin's fist! It is always best to wait for the full story to come out.
Life must be grand when you can justify murder by blaming the victim.
Murder? Explain how you come to that conclusion.
William must be able to see the facts just by reading the Sucking-on Host. Or perhaps he witnessed the whole thing, and is just too gutless to come out and provide evidence.
I am basing my opinion on what we know to be true, Trayvon Martin was walking home from the store when George Zimmerman pursued and ultimately shot him to death. Zimmerman is not a police officer, the police told him not to follow Trayvon, yet he did anyway. Zimmerman should have been arrested at the scene and held for bail like any other criminal.
Between the time when Zimmerman began to follow Martin, and Martin was shot, is a great deal of information pertinent to determining whether the act was one of murder or self-defense. You seem to be leaving all that out of your conclusion.
"We" have read the press version that you continue to mention, and we have heard the witness testimony that doesn't support that version at all. In fact, Zimmerman has apparently been mentoring black youths, and has black friends, neither of which support the idea that race had anything to do with it.
Read up on the latest information, it's really interesting. You might even learn that Martin was on top of Zimmerman, beating the snot out of him, but it's still best to wait for the full story to come out before deciding who is the victim and administering the punishment immediately. You see, the police sometimes interview people and make educated guesses about what the truth is -- perhaps that is why they let Zimmerman go, rather than from some assumed racism.
Tell us how you know the things you wrote are true.
Facts don't matter to William. The only think that matters to him is supporting his fantasy world that he lives in. I guessed before I posted this that he had less than 10 posts. He is a pinko hack here to cause problems and report what we say. That way his pathetic life can have some kind of meaning. Right Willy?
Don't forget, the issue here is 'due process' and the media, Sharpton, Jackson and the Black Panthers sentencing Zimmerman before his day in court. No matter what you believe or read, it's about due process and/or the loss of it.
Why are you on here anyways? Shouldn't you be worrying about how long it will take someone to get a knee surgery in Canada?
