In the New Testament, the Bible tells the parable of the five foolish virgins. Ten virgins are waiting for the Bridegroom to appear. Five have enough oil for their lams for the night. Five do not. Those who do not, leave to find the oil and when they return, the Bridegroom has already come. The moral of the story is preparation.
As we face the possibility of a war in the Middle East that would have crippling effects on the American economy, we still have time to prepare. Preparation can be at both the national level and the personal level.
First, at the national level, we must get our government to allow quick and unlimited drilling and production of oil. Second, we must have the government cut through the red tape and open some new oil refineries. This will help the economy now by lowering prices and will soften the blow, if there is a war and oil supplies are cut off.
But we are dealing with a President who hates America and will do everything in his power to cripple this country. So, much of this preparation must be on the individual level.
According to Dr. Jerome Corsi, author and financial planning expert, the best thing you can do right now is get out of debt. This includes paying off debts if you can and restructuring your mortgage if you are underwater with it. Some of Dr. Corsi’s other suggestions include moving into smaller communities and moving to states that do not have state income taxes.
Corsi says the states with large entitlement budgets and high taxes will be the first to suffer when the economy tanks.
If the United States sees an oil cut off, food prices will be the first to rise and rise quickly. Most Americans are used to the concept of food on demand. If we are hungry, we look in our pantry or we run down to the grocery store or go to a restaurant.
Our food system uses a “just in time” inventory system. With a panic, we will quickly see our food stores emptied. One of the first things you need to do is start-storing food. As you go to the grocery store, pick up a few extra staples. These include wheat, rice, beans and other basics.
A good primer on food storage and preparing for emergency supplies can be found on the Instant Survivalist forum, here on Tea Party Nation.
Finally, if you do not own a firearm, now is the time to purchase one and learn how to use it. Joseph Farah, Editor of World Net Daily says, “For a lot of reasons, I recommend people have some firearms and ammunition and know how to use them. We may reach a time in America where the protection of the lives of our loved ones becomes our primary concern. And there may not be anyone else around to help you.”
There is an old saying, “fortune favors the prepared.” Now is the time to prepare. While we still can.

Permalink Reply by Steve Wagner on February 17, 2011 at 9:19pm Thank-You for the article... Ref: Parable of the "10 Virgins",in Mathew 25: Please bear in mind, this is supposed to be about those who are, or are not prepared the the return of our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ. What good are we to prepare for survival here in the U.S. when our final destiny might be hell?
Of course be wise & prepare in the natural for our family's well being... But please!! Prepare spiritually too!!
