It is time for a Tea Party Agenda. This is an agenda that we can point to and say if you elect Tea Party Congressmen and Senators, this is what we are going to work on.
This agenda is based on ideas from Tea Party activists across the nation. The idea behind the agenda is simple. We decided that the best course would be to pick out a small number of goals that everyone would agree on. We kept in mind that the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party does not control the leadership, so the parts of the Tea Party Agenda would have to have overwhelming support.
This is a simple agenda that can be passed. That is the idea. This should be an agenda we can take to the American people and ask our Tea Party Senators, Congressmen and candidates to embrace.
It will not solve all of our problems, but it will be a start.
Permalink Reply by Thomas "Max" Jonker on May 26, 2012 at 1:03pm As usual I must have written my tax proposal in invisible ink. I posted it here last Wednesday along with other agenda conversation.
It is the only plan I know which is universally unacceptable becasue it taxes everyone with zero exceptions.
Its virtue is, its permanence offers stability for posterity because it also replaces the hundreds of other taxes hatched by Congress - forever.
Congress has repeatedly disproved its ability to promulgate laws.
There can be good simple regulations with deterrents once Special Interest money is removed from the process..
Special Interests fight this type of Reform with its life. Losing means the loss of riches from corruption.
The Opposing Voice you hear is the Advocate of that rampant corruption.
Please excuse any typos. My repaired retina trips over fine print.

Max,
The government has no business collecting information about income nor any other personal information -- except name, age and residence for census every 10 years. The 16th amendment was never legally enacted. There is no federal statute creating an income tax nor an Internal Revenue Service. If you pin IRS down, they say income tax is voluntary. The USA Treasury does not keep track of income tax paid -- has no such account on their computers.
IF your plan for everyone to tithe is also -- truly -- voluntary, with no punishment for underpayment, paid by cash or check to the Treasury into an account open to Congress, President, and Court, with the balance reported publicly at frequent intervals, no payment to IRS, no reporting of income by any employer nor self-employed person, I'd back your tax plan.
But the IRS has to go! Politicians use IRS for corrupt purposes, to reward campaign contributors, and to punish taxpayers who oppose them. The threat of IRS audit also over-controls citizens.
More citizens and lawmakers favor Fair Tax than any other tax proposal ever presented to Congress.

TAXES WERE BEING HATCHED BEFORE THE DECLARATION WAS BEING SIGNED.
I HAVE NO IMAGINATION. I CAN NOT ENVISION ANY NATION EXISTING WITHOUT TAX.
I THINK WE BOTH KNOW, THE FANTASY OF 'NO TAX' IS THE SMOKE SCREEN FOR EVERY TAX IMAGINABLE, WHICH IS OUR SITUATION TODAY.
ORIGINALLY, THIS TAX WAS A PART OF MY PROPOSED "BILL OF CONGRESSIONAL CONSTRAINTS'" TO BE THE POSTPONED COMPANION TO THE (CITIZENS') BILL OF RIGHTS.
OUR FOUNDERS INTENDED TO SET SOME STANDARDS FOR THE GOVERNMENT'S OPERATIONS.
ON THE RATIONALE THAT A BODY CAPABLE OF GOVERNING, WOULD BE CAPABLE OF PROMULGATING ITS OWN RULES., THIS TASK WAS WAIVED.
HOW WRONG THEY WERE.
TAXATION IS NOT ABOUT FAIRNESS. IT IS ABOUT DUTY.
PERHAPS YOU ARE SO RICH THAT THE WEALTH TAX IS AN INTIMIDATING FEATURE.
BOTH TAXES, THE 10% AMERICAN TITHE AND THE 2% NET WEALTH TAX ARE DESIGNED TO SCALE DOWN AS OUR NATION'S DEBT IS REDUCED.
I CAN'T IMAGINE THE PERFECT WORLD WHERE NO TAXATION IS FORCED.
CAN YOU?
IF THE AMERICAN CITIZEN AND AMERICAN BUSINESS COULD RELY ON A SIMPLE, PERMANENT TAX SYSTEM, RENEWED CONFIDENCE IN OUR ECONOMY AND OUR FUTURE WOULD BE AUTOMATIC.
THOSE WHO ARE NOT THREATENED BY THE DNC'S MUMBLES ABOUT A VAT (VALUE ADDED TAX) HAVE NO COMPREHENSION OF THE ECONOMIC DESPOTISM ALREADY DROWNING US.
THE ARRAY OF DIVERSE TAXES ALRADY EXISTING, WOULD GAG A MAGGOT.
TOO MANY ARE HIDDEN.
WITH THE AMERICAN TITHE, THERE WOULD BE THIS SINGLE DUAL TAX FOREVER.
ITS PERMANENCE MUST BE WITH THE SURETY OF THE CONSTITUTION'S.
ERASE THE MAIN CONDUIT FOR CORRUPTION.
ERASE WHAT THE PSEUDONYMISTS CALL "SOCIAL ENGINEERING."
A COMPANION PLAN TO REFORM CAMPAIGN LAWS AND ELECTIONS WILL INVIGORATE OUR SAGGING WORLD.
[PLEASE EXCUSE MY DELAY. I ESCAPE THIS CONTRAPTION ONCE IN AWHILE.]
MAX
Max,
The government does not need our income tax. It makes no difference in the amount government spends. It exists only to keep people from accumulating wealth. Poor people vote for socialism. Prosperous people don't.
If we must be taxed, keep pressure on government to enact Fair Tax, keep income a private matter, increase private jobs, increase prosperity (especially for the poor), reduce purchase power of the richest by 30%, and scrap the IRS.
Neither Flat Tax or Fair Tax have a chance of passing, in a country with half paying no tax. Simply put, 999 is a move in that direction, by introducing a third element and capping the others.
With no "perfect" solution possibly passing, 999 looks like a viable possibility. If we can come together behind it.
Permalink Reply by Peter D Sowatskey on June 4, 2012 at 10:59am The two previous gentlemen have knowledge in their minds to solve the tax situation, no doubt.
Let's look at why taxes were invented. Greedy leaders covers most of the 'why' and to provide for the public good is a small second.
The problem with taxes comes from reluctance, to pay. Not me, not mine, so the best taxation scheme leaves one no choice.
So we dump the IRS in the ocean and put in a % of gross revenue tax, before deducations, oops, forgot, no deducations anymore. % of gross revenue.
But that won't collect anything from the drug dealer and the moonshiners. Yes there are such. When you see moonshine in a glass jar it looks like it is about to explode. You don't get that impression, its been watered down.
Seriously, we all know there's a barter economy amounting to untold billions of dollars. So we have to have a sales tax on all things but unprepared food and basic clothing.
Together, my two taxes won't raise enough.
I take the trouble to write this speculation to highlight one thing.
If we don't have over two thirds, best 75%, of the house and senate, and a republican president, we might as well discuss horse racing or such, because, as you well see, nothing is going to get done.
Now, let's discuss how to get more of the silent 40% voting on our side.

Permalink Reply by kj in TX on May 27, 2012 at 10:29pm NO to a "9-9-9" plan!!!!!!! This is in essence a COMBINATION of consumer tax AND income tax! PICK ONE or the other! But not BOTH! Either the Fair Tax or the FLAT TAX!
NOT, I repeat, NOT BOTH!
Permalink Reply by david chaney on May 27, 2012 at 11:17pm The problem with 9-9-9 is that it creates a new tax. Substituting this with a flat tax would be better. 9-9-9 makes it look like the Republicans are looking for a new way to finance sending jobs overseas, which is not a good idea. Should there be an economic meltdown, the more factories that are sent overseas, means that many more factories that have to be rebuilt here.
Permalink Reply by Allen L. Ose on May 30, 2012 at 1:52pm H. R. 1040 was a flat income tax, but it had exceptions as to the amount you made. That makes it not flat. It keeps in place a similar system as we now have 47% percent of workers paying no income tax. I might point out that a flat income tax does nothing about the trillion dollar plus black market where people are paid in cash. Take a look at Eric Schlosser's book "Reefer Madness." It explains the cash market in drugs, pornography, and other criminal activity.

I agree in all parts. I would add that the realignment and closure commission would also be composed of private sector personnel, especially those from "regulated" industries. No personal offense meant, but there are too many attorneys in office, attorneys who have very little private sector experience so can't truly understand much of the impact on businessmen and women. What they learned in law school or as undergrads isn't enough for this.
These are great points and would be a start in the right direction. If the Republican Party wants to keep its real agenda a secret, at least we can go forward with our own.
