The killing of Osama Bin Laden was actually two operations. One went down perfectly and the other immediately went off the rails and is now rapidly approaching the status of a total screw up.
The US military delivered an operation that only the US military could. Navy Seals flew in and quickly dispatched the enemy. Even though they lost one of their helicopters, the seals went in, as one person said, “not knowing if they would have a ride home.”
Forty minutes later, they departed, with Bin Laden’s body and a treasure trove of intelligence from computers and other storage media.
As soon as the military operation was concluded, the political operation began. That has been a disaster.
The first mistake was deciding that our “handling” of Bin Laden’s body had to be in accordance with Islamic dictates. What genius came up with that idea? First that meant a burial as quickly as possible.
Can someone please explain what the rush was?
Was an autopsy done?
An autopsy is a valuable forensic tool. While it would tell us things we already knew, like cause of death, it could also tell us things we did not know and could verify some intelligence information we have received.
Why does Bin Laden get an “Islamic funeral?” We are always told that he was not a true Muslim that he and his band of terrorists have hijacked Islam, so why are we falling all over ourselves to make sure he was treated with “Islamic” sensitivities?
Perhaps the most important question and the greatest screw up in this political operation is, where is the photo?
The Drudge Report had a bright red headline today that says, “Where is the photo?”
It is not like there is not a shortage of photos of a dead Bin Laden. The Navy Seals wore helmet cams and video was sent back live to the White House situation room. As soon as Bin Laden was dead and the compound secured, there would be not only opportunity to photograph him, but it is almost unbelievable to think that intelligence operatives did not take photos during their time in the compound. There was time to take photos on the helicopter on the way out to the carrier and of course, there are the photos the White House acknowledges do exist.
The White House claims it is not releasing the photo because of its graphic nature. Headshots are pretty graphic. Bullet wounds to the head cause tremendous bleeding and usually significant distortion of the face, often resulting in the exposure of underlying material, including brain matter.
That is a pretty lame excuse.
Hollywood has done a good job over the last twenty years of desensitizing us to gore. Go on the Internet and do a search. You can find all kinds of extremely gory photos. By not releasing the photos immediately, the administration has played into the hands of those who will claim that Bin Laden is still alive and conspiracy theorists who will claim he died 2001-2003. The delay in releasing the photos has given irreversible fodder to those who are going to now claim that photos released by the Obama regime are doctored. Given the regime’s willingness to release an apparently doctored image of a birth certificate, believing the Obama regime would alter the death photo of Bin Laden is not that much of a stretch.
The military operation that took down Bin Laden was the kind of operation that only the United States military could successfully execute. The political operation following the take down of Bin Laden is the kind of screw up that only the Obama regime could foul up.

THE PHOTOS WH WILL NOT RELEASE ARE STATE SECRET. and all other events surrounding the raid are STATE SECRET. so what this sounds like is what SOCIALIST COUNTRIES DO ALL THE TIME. all we know is UBL IS DEAD AND WAS BURIED AT SEA FOR SECURITY REASONS. and more questions than answers arise out of it. so it is like someone elseSAID we will not know anymore until OBAMA IS OUT OF OFFICE.
Permalink Reply by Joanne on There is only ONE reason I can 'sort of' buy into about why Osama's photos shouldn't be shown and it was made tonight on Hannity by Oliver North. He said it could possibly be used to prosecute the Seals that made the kill. And he HAS a point given the insane rules of law within the U.N. and the European Union.
Nothing THEY'D try should be surprising.
But, that wouldn't matter even IF they tried something like that IF we had a president that would actually defend HIS people. But THIS POTUS would no doubt turn his back on them and let their fate be decided by others outside the U.S.
I'm not saying I DO buy that reasoning. But it is plausible (sort of).
