This is an Aug, 2010 letter from Roger Owens. It says very well what I allude to:
Socialism is a political parasite that feeds off capitalism like a tick sucks blood from a dog. Socialism must have the profits from capitalism to survive. It can no more produce its own money than a tick can produce its own blood.
When people or companies make more money than they immediately need, it’s called profit. What a worker makes and doesn’t spend right off is no different.
Americans who either work at or own companies providing goods and services [that] other people are willing to pay for produce wealth. The profits from such companies and their employees provide all the extras, all the good stuff.
Every dollar you give your church, synagogue or mosque come from these profits, including the millions of hospitals and clinics across the globe.
All you give to Red Cross, Greenpeace or the Girl Scouts, every halfway house and soup kitchen are paid with profits from capitalism.
On top of all that is everything you pay in taxes. Roads, education, the good and bad, welfare and illegal immigrants, all the waste and fraud, come from the profits capitalism has to offer. Reasonable taxes are the cost of government, but excessive taxation and government intervention equal socialism.
And where does socialism get money? Taxation. Where does tax money come from? The hard-earned profits of workers and companies.
Socialism has no source of wealth and so must feed off capitalism. It takes money from citizens and companies, keeps the majority for its own benefit, then justifies itself by giving grudging handouts to supporters. It is clear our current government is full of socialists.
We can just work harder to feed these parasites or we can vote them out in November.
