Perhaps it might be going a little far to call one of the members of the Obama Regime sane but at least one of them seems to get it.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told Marines and sailors on Friday that Congress would be irresponsible if it doesn't act to prevent drastic military budget cuts.
In a visit to this amphibious assault ship off the Southern California coast, he also said Afghanistan is making progress against the Taliban but Iran remains a potential threat to the U.S.
A budget agreement reached last August calls for defense cuts of $487 billion over a decade, a reflection of the drawdown of two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the pressure to reduce the nation's deficit.
The failure of Congress' so-called "supercommittee" to come up with at least $1.2 trillion in savings means automatic cuts of more than $1 trillion next January to defense and domestic programs.
Congress "did a stupid thing" in risking the $50 billion in reductions that would kick in next January, Panetta told hundreds of Marines and sailors.
"What they essentially did is put a gun to their heads and the heads of the country," he said.
We should be grateful that at least someone gets it.
The fiasco that Congress and Obama gave us cannot be sugar coated. It will destroy the American military as a superpower. If those cuts are allowed to go forward, our military will soon be on the way to parity with Britain’s military which now is hard pressed to guard the Thames River.
Of course, gutting the American military is what Obama wants. What is stunning is the Republicans would go along with that. Where is the party of “Peace through strength?”
Why are the Republicans so willing to be complicit in the destruction of America’s military? Are they so consumed with their desire to be reelected that they are willing to abandon their duty to defend America?
This is one issue we need to make a major campaign issue. Russia and China are ramping up their defense spending and if we ever lose our military superiority, we will never be able to get it back.
Permalink Reply by Richard Wohltmann on He may get it with the looming budget cuts, but he is way off when it comes to who is responsible for declaring war. Panetta still thinks that it is up to international bodies and not Congress. That is why BO picked him for Secretary of Defense.

It contained too many "riders" not applicable to defense and other provisions that it would NEVER make it past the senate and obama. As is typical of obama and the dems, there's always that "setup" where the repub's will look bad and get the blame even if they did pass it. The bill was so lousy ( obamacare bill, anyone?) the congress spiked it. Just having this discussion and giving credence to Panetta on this site proves the deviousness that we have to deal with every day.

I think it is kind of like a spoiled child vs irresponsible parent, or perhaps a bullying concept. However, liberals do not want to completely destroy the government which has the teets that feed them. It is the Obama administration in hand with communists who are working toward that. A vast irresponsible US government that they know will eventually implode on itself is the means to an end for communists and those of the Obama type.
