Could Sarah Palin be getting into the race after all?
She has not said anything but some of her supporters in Iowa are. They have made a TV commercial that is going to debut in Iowa tomorrow, four weeks and six days before the Iowa caucuses.
From The Daily Caller:
Supporters of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Gov. Palin have unveiled a television ad they plan to air in Iowa. They hope the ad will compel her to reconsider her decision not to run for president in 2012.
The ad debuts Nov. 30 on KCAU in Sioux City, Ian Lazaran of Conservatives4Palin.com, which raised money to run the spot, told The Daily Caller.
The video does not explicitly ask Palin to reconsider. It simply shows her giving a speech and saying, “We will not solve our economic problems in this country until we confront the crony capitalism of our permanent political class.”
“This is socialism for the very rich and the very poor but it is a brutal form of capitalism for the rest of us,” Palin says. “It’s the collusion of big government, big business. It’s at the heart of President Obama’s economic vision.”
The Hill has some more details:
Conservatives4Palin, a volunteer group that is unaffiliated with Palin and SarahPac, said on its website that it hopes to run the ad this week in Sioux City, Iowa.
“What we do next after the television ad goes up is a more difficult question,” the announcement said. “If this ad is able to build some momentum for the Governor, the best way to keep that momentum going may be to commission a national GOP primary poll that includes the Governor as one of the options. We’ll see if it’s possible given our resources. We’re open to other ideas but the greatest challenge may be that time is running short for her to reconsider.”
Hope does spring eternal but the reality of life is, at this late date it would be impossible for Palin to jump into the race. She has already missed the deadline to appear on a number of early state ballots.
The fascination with Palin jumping back into the race, something she has not even hinted at, is a symptom of something else going on in the Republican Party.
Right now, the conservative base remains shattered. It is split among a number of candidates. The problem is we are now on top of the Caucus date and the primaries begin a week later.
Conservatives are going to have to unite behind the most electable conservative. Otherwise, we are going to see Mitt Romney be the nominee and just as we had a choice in 2008 between two liberals, if Mitt Romney is the nominee, the only question will be which of the two liberals wins in 2012.

Nice, H_ _ _! Terrifying!
(Sorry Debrajoe)
I'm referring to the shattered condition of the Conservative Base, not to Sarah's candidacy.
Permalink Reply by KYRobinbird on November 29, 2011 at 5:40pm Yes, Abe, after listening to Mark Steyn today covering for Rush, it seems the ongoing message is that there's no perfect candidate...duh? We're gonna keep fooling around here, & Romney will be nominated. I'm doing all I can in KY, but here, we just had nearly a clean sweep by Dems for Gubernatorial elections last month. WE GOTTA PICK ONE!! SOON!!
Permalink Reply by Jim Hoff on November 29, 2011 at 10:00am I believe Sarah has more respect for America than to get involved with the hopes of some idealistic dreamers who can't face reality.
Permalink Reply by KathleenSt on November 29, 2011 at 8:15am She never said she was not running for president.
She said she was not the republican candidate.
She left the door open...now will she enter through it?

Permalink Reply by Anna L. Spencer on November 29, 2011 at 9:59am Dean-Ross Schessler, I totally agree. If she was the conservative choice, I could not and would not vote for her. Why doesn't she just fade away. She does not care for America or she would stop this foolishness. As for her missing the dabates, I am sure that was planned. She would be pulverized by the moderators and other candidates. She does not have the intelligence to respond to a debate question with that whiney, fake voice.
Permalink Reply by Larry Self on November 29, 2011 at 10:15am Anna, why are you so full of hate for a strong Christian Constitutional Conservative, 100% Tea Party lady? You would rather have Obama? Please redirect the vitriolic poison out of this discussion since the post didn't even come from her but rather from an outside group that supports her. Maybe direct your passion at that group for the therapy you seem to need.
Permalink Reply by Dean-Ross Schessler on November 29, 2011 at 11:13am Do you feel better for picking on Anna? The topic of discussion is Palin and that is what Anna is taling about. Why are you trying to defend her by blaming those who are too stupid or foolish to see the folly of their ways when all Anna is doing is pointing out that she has observed the fact that Palin was responsible for giving us Obama because of who and what she is an how she handled everything she did during the 2008 campaign. To say Palin is political poison does not also say she is not an outstanding American.

Permalink Reply by Robert M. Kiah on November 29, 2011 at 2:18pm Anna! "drunk no cool-aid". Say that again. I think you're on cool-aid now.
Permalink Reply by Gene Swank on November 29, 2011 at 4:25pm Whats ammater Anna, are you afraid of a pretty, married, Christian Conservative who speaks her mind and doesnt back down, who as Governor went after corruption on both sides then gave the people of Alaska a check to help them deal with high fuel costs. What other Governor has ever gave surplus money back to the people?
