It is no secret that the left hates the American military.

The American military represents the best of America.  They are our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, neighbors who serve our country.

America, unlike many other countries, has never had to fear its military.  We have never had to fear the military being used by the regime to impose its will or even fear a military take over.  One of the great secrets of our military is that if such orders were given, eighty percent, or more, of the soldiers would refuse such orders.

The left hates the military because the military reflects the values that have made America great.  Love of country, love of neighbor and love of God.   Since Vietnam, the left has tried to make the military little more than another public works agency, thinking the military should only be used for “rescue” operations.

One of the most horrifying attacks on the military is now coming with the attack on “Don’t ask, don’t tell.”

The main issue here is not the issue of gays serving in the military.

The issue is now the character of the military itself.

Lt. General Thomas Bostick is the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of personnel matters.  In a recent speech at the European Command Headquarters, he likened those who objected to homosexuality on religious grounds as bigots and racists.   He also said, “they need to get with the program (the new policy that would allow gays to serve openly) or get out.”

The simple fact of the matter is the left cannot stand anything or anyone that disagrees with them.   Either someone must be forced to agree with the left or they or it must be destroyed.

The left is now fighting the conservative military culture on two fronts.  First, by telling anyone who disagrees with gays in the military to get out.  The soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who would “get out” are overwhelmingly conservative. Second, polls have shown that a significant number of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines, particularly senior non-commissioned officers, would leave the military if the “don’t ask, don’t tell policy” were repealed and gays could serve openly.

This fight is much more significant that the issue of gays in the military.  This issue is about the character of the military, which has served us so well for over two hundred years.   We cannot have a politically correct, politicized military.  Such a military would no longer be the guardian of American freedom.  It would become the greatest threat to freedom.

Oh,so we should behave more like animals? Moral relativism is propaganda of the left.
It erodes freedom of choice and demonizes individuality in a most insidious way.
I disagree.
Homosexual's and 'normal' people?
Very true.
Homosexulity is not normal.
Actually, homosexuality is as normal as lying, cheating, stealing, adultery, fornication and bestiality. It just so happens that God, our Creator did not design us to indulge ourselves in that way and specifically put those behaviors off limits. The problem comes when you through your world view so identify with a behavior that you deem it to be who you are!! I dare say all of have stolen something in our lives, but that doesn't make us a thief! You don't have to continue in this behavior. It may be highly addictive but it is not inseparable from who you are.
Harold, do you realy think that homosexuality chose that lifestyle? I think you are wrong.
Very well put.
I disagree. It's one thing to take a shower with a bunch of your fellow comrades. It's another thing to be forced to shower with someone who may find you physically attractive. Or be confined in close quarters, spaces, etc. Minds well make the entire Military Co-ed. I would worry the number of "Friendly Fire" incidents would rise accordingly.
People are missing the point here. The constitution does not recognize sexual orientation as a protected class. The Federal government has no authority to act on this.

I love how people that have never served in the military try to ram this stuff down the throats of the brave men and woman that serve our country every day protecting the freedoms that most Americans take for granted. I served in the U.S. Army for over 10 years and have been deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Anyone that has not served and been on extended deployments doesn't have a clue what impact this would have.

That being said I have a close friend that is a gay and I have nothing against him. That is his choice and he has every right to do whatever he wants in his personal life, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to share an open shower, bunk or the confined spaces of the inside of a Bradley for a year. It would be very uncomfortable for both of us.

I say let the military decide on this one. Not the politicians.
Hip,Hip. Well said.
I served in the Navy, with VF96. We made a West Pac Cruise in 1963. I the compartment where we slept, our bunks were stacked 3 high with a piece of steel about 18 by 18 inches seperating the sailor I slept next to. No way would we have tolerated anyone who was openly "Gay".
