As conservatives now lament the now probable nomination of Mitt Romney to be the Republican nominee for President, one question on the minds of conservatives is, did Romney really mean what he said or was he just saying what he thought he needed to say?
Unfortunately, I fear we are about to discover a terrible fact. I fear we are in fact going to discover that Romney simply said what he thought he needed to. Romney has managed to get the nomination basically without the support of the Tea Party movement and without mainstream conservatives.
Romney will not win this fall without the support of conservatives. In a recent survey on Tea Party Nation, a quarter of those surveyed said they would not vote for Romney in the fall election.
The election this fall is going to be close. The Party of Treason will be getting every dead person they can out to vote and in other places people will be voting early and often. Romney may have been able to win the nomination without appealing to the Tea Party and to conservatives, but he had better start to get conservatives in his corner as soon as he can.
How can he do this?
Here is a start. Commit that by January 1, 2014, he will have $1 a gallon gas.
First, let’s start with the basics. Romney himself cannot give us $1 a gallon gas. But he and a Republican Congress can create the environment where it is possible.
Has anyone been paying attention to Obama? Just in case no one has noticed, he is not afraid of anything Rick Santorum has said. He is not afraid of anything Mitt Romney has said. The only thing he has worried about is Newt Gingrich when he started talking about $2.50 a gallon gas.
If anything, Newt was not ambitious enough. Regardless, that was what Obama attacked. Why? Because he knows that is his vulnerability.
People are screaming at $4 a gallon gas right now. What does anyone think will happen when gas hits $5 a gallon.
Not only is this a winning issue for the election, it is a winning policy.
Does anyone remember 2008? Gas prices shot to well over $4 a gallon. Does anyone remember what George W. Bush did? He revoked an executive order prohibiting off shore drilling. That was purely symbolic act, as a law would have to be repealed to allow off shore drilling, but it was enough. Gas prices fell to $1.60 a gallon in some areas by the time George W. Bush left office.
Barack Obama’s first act as President was to reinstate the executive order banning off shore drilling and gas prices have gone up ever since then.
Can you imagine what would happen if we had a President committed to $1 a gallon gas? If he were willing to do what it takes to allow new drilling, new refining and getting the Department of Job Destruction and Poverty Creation, otherwise known as the Environmental Protection Agency out of the way of American energy production?
If we dropped the price of gas down to $1 a gallon, there would be a huge economic stimulus. A staggering drop in the price of gas could help quickly end the Great Obama Depression.
So here is the question for Mitt Romney. Are you a liberal or are you a conservative? Are you willing to prove it? Are you willing to step out with a daring plan that will captivate America and disarm Obama?
That is the question. America waits for your answer Mitt Romney.

Romney is a lying liberal, just like Obama. Romney said what he needed to say to win the Republican vote. He will keep saying it until the general election in November. Whether he wins or loses is immaterial, because the policies will be the same under either Romney or Obama. I cannot and will not vote for Romney, because I view a vote for Romney as a vote for Obama, EVEN IF Romney wins.
As for the Bush repeal of the ban on offshore drilling? Can you provide evidence that the repeal had an actual, measurable effect on the price of gas? The actual lowering of the price of gas came from the same supply-demand equation that normally controls pricing. Gas prices were too high, and America and Western Europe were in deep recession. Supply crept up because less gas was being sold; prices fell accordingly.
The Bush repeal, while I applauded it as the right thing to do, had minimal real impact on the price of gas. Supply-and-Demand laws rule the market as long as government stays out of the supply chain and out of the pricing equation and as long as all of the players in the market are honest players.
Permalink Reply by Mark A. Gorski on April 1, 2012 at 12:41pm Judson; do you realize that by keeping this division going and continuing to rail against Romney you are actually schilling for Obama? The only way Obama can win is if he keeps us fighting amongst ourselves and fail to support the nominee 100%. Don't you realize that?
Ron Paul don't have a prayer of getting the nomination but could become a spoiler should he choose to run as an independent!
Newt Gingrich was my choice but the reality is that he is all but gone! The exit door is open, he just refuses to walk through it.
Rick Santorum is headed for the exit door and should probably just accept facts and start bowing out!
Mitt Romney may not be the #1 choice for Tea Party Conservatives but lets face it. He has a far better chance than the other 3.
Roughly 20% of Americans are far left leaning!
Roughly 20% of Americans are far right leaning!
That means that 60% of Americans are somewhere in the middle with the majority of those considering themselves moderate conservatives!
If we are going to take back this country we need to appeal to those folks in the middle! Those folks who can vote either way regardles of political affiliation!
Mitt Romney would not be my first choice for President! He wouldn't even be my second choice but if he gets the nomination I will support him 100% because I know what is truly at stake here!
Please stop fanning the flames of dissention in the ranks or the Tea Party is going to wind up defeating themselves!
Oh, and just as a little side piece of information I have heard no where in the media or even in the tea party news letters,
The Mormon Church is the only recognized religious organization in this country to openly come out in full support of the Constitution and our Founding Fathers. They frequently speak to the divine inspiration of our founders and the hand of god in the formation of this country!
While I am not a Mormon that in itself tells me that Mitt Romney is far more conservative than he lets on!
If he gets the nomination let's give him a chance. He couldn't possibly do any more harm now could he?
Permalink Reply by janet barks on April 2, 2012 at 1:32am Mark, for you to think that Judson can change anyones minds about who to vote for and/or support is just not true.
That is like saying that the people that keep railing about Romney being good for nothing are like all the people that let the media choose their candidate for them. The roughly 20% of Americans that are far right leaning are smarter than that. For the 60% that you said are somewhere in the middle, you seem to assume that we need to appeal to them. If that means supporting a candidate that we think they will "go for," is the same as just letting the GOP pick our candidate election after election. As it has been said by others on this blog, it is not right to just decide it is all over and that we all must get behind one candidate is giving up. Who said it is over? Who decides this? It is not over. It is not yet time to just end it because Romney "is" ahead. How is that right for those that haven't voted yet? How is that right to tell a candidate that they should quit?
For my side piece of information, I wouldn't hold my breath that Romney is more conservative than he lets on just because he is a mormon! I would believe the opposite. Romney will end up being more liberal than he lets on. There is more fact proving that he is more liberal than conservative than what he lets on.
If he gets the nomination I'm sure that many will, THEN give him a chance.

Newt WAS being a nice guy, then Romney attacked him lieget forcing Newt to strike back. Remeber on here Judson and the rest of us were upset that Newt didn't go after Romeny during the smear Campagin? Yes my dear, so do I . And I agree with the statment...we are in deep do-do!! ;)

I have never heard that comment, nothing even close to it. For those of us who have not, could you please point to when or where? I think it is something we all should be aware of.
Thanks

We have hashed this topic over and over again. Perhaps you should go back to the numerous articles on Romney. You would find all your answers there. The when and where you are asking about has been on these blogs for a Long time. I'm not trying to be harsh or insulting, It is just that this topic has been so inclusive and on going. I just had to let you know I how feel. I really think you would like that past blogs. If you click on some of the bloggers avatars you could go back and find some good information.
I'm deleting this blog now. I feel I've heard everything there is to hear on Romney. Good luck.

We know the Liberals, Progressives, Democrats and Socialists are going to come out in droves to keep their socialist utopia on track right?
A vote for anyone other than the Republican Nominee will be the same as a vote for Obama!
Not voting because you don't like the Republican Nominee will be the same as a vote for Obama!
What is more important? Voting for the person we like the most or getting Obama Out of the White House?
If Romney gets the nomination we need to support him 100% of we will become the generation who allowed this country to be destroyed! My Friends, I for 1 am not going to contribute to the destruction of all we hold dear just because I don't like the person running against Obama!
Yes, we are individuals but we are part of something far larger and far more important than any one of us are!
WE ARE AMERICANS! Americans who grew up under the most brilliant form of government ever divised by man!
Are we going to assure that our children and grandchildren will be able to grow up under that government as well or are we going to allow our country to be turned into yet another socialist state doomed to failure from day 1?
