As conservatives now lament the now probable nomination of Mitt Romney to be the Republican nominee for President, one question on the minds of conservatives is, did Romney really mean what he said or was he just saying what he thought he needed to say?
Unfortunately, I fear we are about to discover a terrible fact. I fear we are in fact going to discover that Romney simply said what he thought he needed to. Romney has managed to get the nomination basically without the support of the Tea Party movement and without mainstream conservatives.
Romney will not win this fall without the support of conservatives. In a recent survey on Tea Party Nation, a quarter of those surveyed said they would not vote for Romney in the fall election.
The election this fall is going to be close. The Party of Treason will be getting every dead person they can out to vote and in other places people will be voting early and often. Romney may have been able to win the nomination without appealing to the Tea Party and to conservatives, but he had better start to get conservatives in his corner as soon as he can.
How can he do this?
Here is a start. Commit that by January 1, 2014, he will have $1 a gallon gas.
First, let’s start with the basics. Romney himself cannot give us $1 a gallon gas. But he and a Republican Congress can create the environment where it is possible.
Has anyone been paying attention to Obama? Just in case no one has noticed, he is not afraid of anything Rick Santorum has said. He is not afraid of anything Mitt Romney has said. The only thing he has worried about is Newt Gingrich when he started talking about $2.50 a gallon gas.
If anything, Newt was not ambitious enough. Regardless, that was what Obama attacked. Why? Because he knows that is his vulnerability.
People are screaming at $4 a gallon gas right now. What does anyone think will happen when gas hits $5 a gallon.
Not only is this a winning issue for the election, it is a winning policy.
Does anyone remember 2008? Gas prices shot to well over $4 a gallon. Does anyone remember what George W. Bush did? He revoked an executive order prohibiting off shore drilling. That was purely symbolic act, as a law would have to be repealed to allow off shore drilling, but it was enough. Gas prices fell to $1.60 a gallon in some areas by the time George W. Bush left office.
Barack Obama’s first act as President was to reinstate the executive order banning off shore drilling and gas prices have gone up ever since then.
Can you imagine what would happen if we had a President committed to $1 a gallon gas? If he were willing to do what it takes to allow new drilling, new refining and getting the Department of Job Destruction and Poverty Creation, otherwise known as the Environmental Protection Agency out of the way of American energy production?
If we dropped the price of gas down to $1 a gallon, there would be a huge economic stimulus. A staggering drop in the price of gas could help quickly end the Great Obama Depression.
So here is the question for Mitt Romney. Are you a liberal or are you a conservative? Are you willing to prove it? Are you willing to step out with a daring plan that will captivate America and disarm Obama?
That is the question. America waits for your answer Mitt Romney.
It took over 65 years to get this bad, don't expect to have it fixed in 4 years! Bottom up infiltration will take time as it did for the progressives. We need to keep plugging away at the top while getting the right people in from the bottom.Local,County and State. These are the people who will be advancing to the federal in the years to come.
If we pull together we can fix it in 4. Hey, new bumper sticker, "FIX IT IN 4".
I remember when people wanted anyone but Hillary to be the Dem candidate. Look what we got!
Good point. I guess sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.
I HAVE MARINE BUDDIES THAT VOTED FOR HILLARY...SHE IS MUCH MORE OF A "HAWK" THAN WHAT WE HAVE !
Roni you are 100% correct!
I believe Romney "has seen the light" and we'd be much better off with him than with Obama. We're all suppose to grow and learn and that includes politicians. With a GOP Congress I feel optimistic even with Romney as President. I also think enough Christians have prayed about the situation that it's time to start putting our trust in God. My prayer now is that God will keep voter fraud from happening as I believe that's the only way Obama could be re-elected and he's so cocky that he's probably counting on fraud to get him back on his throne. When he was overheard talking to the Russian guy, he made it sound like his re-election was only a small "formality". For those who won't vote for Romney, they are either stupid, don't care, or are happy with Obama.
There is only one thing that Romney differs from Obama and tat is his potential Supreme Court appointments. We can only hope he will not place any more radicals in the SCOUTS
Lou, I believe there are more differences that that but if not, that one difference is good enough for me at this time. Really, what choice do we have?
This is a glimmer of hope but not a guarantee that we will not see moderates leaning left appointed. This is an issue that MUST be pushed with Romney. If there are left leaning people appointed tho the SCOUTS then it will be just like Obama winning
When you have no principles like Romney then you are easily hoodwinked by someone and made to believe you are something you are not. Romney could easily pick a liberal secularist for Supreme Courtt
So nicely written Laura, thank you.
You are also pretty much right..with every sentence you wrote.
Will be watching for your posts...excellent.
