Mitt Romney is now muddling through his first major failure. If this crisis is any indication of Romney as a leader, his campaign is in trouble and so is the nation when he beats Obama this fall.
What is happening?
It started with the hiring of openly gay foreign policy advisor Ric Grenell. Immediately social conservatives began to complain that Romney had chosen a homosexual male for the job and they immediately began wondering about his commitment to other conservative issues.
When the Romney campaign hired Grenell there were one of two possibilities. The first is he did not know how social conservatives would react and the second is he did not care. Neither is good.
Romney’s history is that of a liberal. That is how he governed in Massachusetts and appointed openly gay people to various positions in his administration. He has nothing in common with social conservatives. It probably did not register with him.
The second issue is that he probably did not care. For social conservatives, they should be very worried that the soon to be nominee of the GOP does not care about their concerns. Perhaps Romney should be more concerned.
Even without all of the dead people Obama is rallying to vote for him, Romney must have the social conservatives in his corner.
Team Romney probably thinks all the conservatives are in his pocket. After all, we will not vote for Barack Obama, right?
There is a third option. A lot of people could choose to stay home. Or at least ignore the name at the top of the ballot and just vote on races further down the ballot.
After totally screwing up the hiring of Ric Grenell, Team Romney then screwed everything else up too.
There is nothing worse than indecisiveness and that is exactly what the Romney campaign did. Grenell’s area of expertise is allegedly foreign affairs. This is the week the foreign affairs expert should have been front and center.
Instead he was nowhere to be seen.
Hiring Grenell was a mistake and a bad choice. Then simply giving him nothing to do, which is what the Romney campaign did, was even worse. The Romney campaign said they hired him because they believed he was the best.
Well if that is the case, act like it.
Instead, they vacillated and Romney once again looks like a flip-flop.
Grenell finally took everyone out of their misery by resigning. He gave the Romney campaign the easy way out, which was apparently what they were looking for.
The lessons from this mess are simple. There is a serious lack of leadership in the Romney team. It starts at the top. At a time of crisis, when American needs great leadership, we are getting…. Well it is hard to say what we are getting. But it is not so hard to say what we are not getting.
Now, that's a ticket I could happily vote FOR...Palin/West. After watching the DVD, "The Undefeated" about Sarah Palin, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat! She took on dishonest power brokers as well as the oil companies who sat on Alaska oil leases for 30 years because the oil was worth more to them in the ground. She threatened to yank their leases, and find new leasees who would drill if the current leasees didn't start drilling and soon. Since they didn't want to lose their leases, they started drilling and AK raked in the $$$!
It is time to come together . The process has run its course. Stop the bickering and festering or we will have four more years of the egomaniac. Is that what you want??
No one has cared "what WE want." We wanted a nominee to be proud of. One with values, policies, and ideas to restore a constitutional republic. We wanted a "Leader."
Sadly, it looks more each day like instead ... we get Romney.
Don't blame US, when Romney loses. We warned against him. Few listened!!!
Don't get your knickers in a twist, Tom. Regardless of how little we like Romney, if he is the nominee I think most people realize they have to vote for the lesser of two evils and belly up to the voting booth for Romney. Whomever the Republican candidates are, wherever they are, and whatever their views, we have to vote Republican come November and hope for the best from them. Our responsibility is to hold their feet to the fire with much loud support or protest depending on how we view the choices they make.
If Romney thinks Ric Grenell is the best foreign policy advisor available, his mistake was NOT in hiring him, but in accepting his resignation.....
Get over yourselves! Obama or Romney that's her choice. Deal with it.
I am a tea party patriot. Smaller government, fiscal responsibility, staying within the Constitution, and battling socialist agenda.
The federal government has no right weighing in in the areas of sexual preference, education, birth control, healthcare, TV station such as NPR, and so on.
It's time for the tea party quit acting like the GOP. With all social agendas. We are about smaller government, fiscal responsibility staying within the Constitution, and battling the socialist agenda.
I could give a rats butt about if someone's gay or not. I'm about protecting the greatest nation on earth the USA. Which is getting ready to collapse. From a Senate that is not passed a budget in three years, how many trillion dollar debt, and we've got our feathers puffed up on rather somebody has a gay man on his team give me a break.
Tea party it's time to get back to basics of what were about get out of the Jerry Springer gossip arena
EXCUSE US! We seek to restore and defend inalienable RIGHTS endowed upon US by our Creator. We don't say sexual perversion is SIN ... God says it. Those seeking to hijack the word "gay" and use it to replace actual words describing such sexual perversions and deviants ... those seeking to advance an agenda in support of perversion and deviancy ... THOSE are the ones seeking to upend not only our republic, but also the Laws of Nature and Nature's God. Since when are discussion of intimacy reserved to the marital union established by God meant to be political OR social agendas?
Folks openly flouting their rebellion and rejection of God and His Laws are of low or NO character. Unworthy to serve in offices and positions of public trust. Sadly, the GOP presumptive nominee doesn't agree with any of this.
God loves sinners and abhors sin. God teaches us to do likewise. You cannot restore the republic given to us by God and our founders by setting aside or compromising God and His teachings.
This is why progressive, moderate, liberal, RINO compromisers either LOSE or lead us further down a path to destruction.
I respect your "right" to have views and opinions and to express them. However, your view of the TEA Party agenda and mine differ a great deal.
Chas, you are absolutely correct. If Romney is not ashamed of selecting an openly homosexual as an adviser, then what else might he be inclined to do? How about an executive order ending DOMA? Who knows what else. We don't need a white man that institutes the same agenda as the half white man currently occupying the WH. I would vote for a turnip to get rid of obama, but not a Socialist/Marxist turnip.
Let's be honest, IF Romney becomes the nominee, we must hope he defeats Obama, but let's also get real, Romney is NOT presidential material.
Our only hope is that conservatives make serious gains in both the House and Senate and then REFUSE to compromise with RINO's, Romney's, and demoncrats.
Absent that, our republic as founded and which we hope to restore is likely doomed.
the race was never about leadership, God knows the GOP is lacking in leaders with backbones and principals, but rather about silencing the conservative and tea party bid for party control...elitist will suffer another loss at the polls..Romney is the ghost of McCain, Lugar, Hatch, McConnell...etc.
I still say Romney better than Obama.
I think we get Etch-a-Sketch Romney in. Then the tea party starts publicly holding his feet the fire. And maybe a message gets out in a whole new light. With the media and the sheeple. The tea party starts going after Republican – GOP president on things like fiscal responsibility, balancing the budget, and constitutional principles. Like Newt says Romney will maintain the decay of the US whereas Obama is extraditing it. It's our only hope for change pun intended at this time. It took us decades to get here is probably not going to change in two or three election.
I personally will not give up until they put me under or lock me away. So fellow patriot the fight has just begun.
Very catastrophic to say the least. Now, I begin to see what was causing all these conservative minds to be very concerned. Now, I started to see why all these drive-by media were so friendly. Please don't discriminate, just put fire burning on your roof top and go to bed and sleep. Don't hate. You are a Christian but Just let a leper (someone with UNTREATED leprosy sickness) dine with you inside the same (food) plate with his/her leprosy hands dipping inside your food at the table. Very catastrophic
