September 20th is a day Sarah Palin is not looking forward to. Two books will be released on that day. The first is by the father of her grandchild. Levi Johnson’s book, though ghost written, is probably not going to be a very interesting read and probably will not get much traction.
The book from Joe McGinnis is going to be a different story.

The scandalous details are revealed in the highly-anticipated tell-all "The Rogue: Searching for The Real Sarah Palin," written by best-selling author Joe McGinniss.
Palin bedded future pro hoops player Glen Rice while he was playing at the University of Michigan, the National Enquirer reports about the McGinniss book.
The sharp-shooting Rice - who spent one season with the Knicks - was playing in the annual "Great Alaska Shootout" while Palin was a sports reporter with Anchorage television station KTUU, the Enquirer said.
Their one-night stand over Thanksgiving weekend 1987 reportedly occurred in the dorm room of Palin's kid sister at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Palin was described by a friend as the aggressor, with the pal reporting "she hauled his ass down," the Enquirer said.
Less than a year later, Palin was pregnant by husband Todd and the couple eloped.
The book also repeated allegations - denied in the past by Palin - that she had a six-month affair with her husband's business partner in the mid-'90s.
The dalliance put a chill on the Palin marriage, with Todd complaining to friends about the loss of intimacy in their relationship, the Enquirer reported.
McGinniss, the author of "Fatal Vision" and "The Selling of the President," rented the house next door to the Palins in Wasilla while researching the bombshell book.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin isn’t a stranger to controversy. From Troopergate to conspiracy theories about her son Trig’s birth, John McCain’s 2008 running mate is well-versed in setting the second straight. And that’s a good thing, because the hits just keep on coming.
An upcoming book that is set for release later this month makes some wild allegations about the politician — accusations that are sure to inspire debate, disbelief and plenty of reaction. The book “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin,” written by Joe McGinniss, claims that Palin once snorted cocaine with her husband. This purported drug use allegedly took place while Palin and her husband, Todd, were snowboarding with friends (the author claims the two snorted the drug off of an overturned oil drum).
At another point in the book, McGinniss writes that Palin once secretly smoked marijuana as well. Adding flavor to the story, she allegedly used the drug with a professor at her college. As if these charges weren’t enough to send heads spinning, the book also alleges that Palin engaged in at least two affairs.
Sarah Palin has had a huge target on her back since 2008 and has managed to avoid being taken down, though the liberals would love to do nothing more than destroy her.
Palin has two venues to fight back in, the court of public opinion and the court of law. Two questions affect both venues. Are the allegations true and if so, how does she deal with them? In the court of public opinion, if the incidents were true and were a number of years ago, Americans are very forgiving. Such allegations, even if true, would not necessarily destroy her career.
Then there is the legal aspect. Palin is a public figure, therefore to prevail in a defamation action, the allegations made would have to reach the level of actual malice. Assuming what is being said about the book is true, and what McGinnis has written is false, those allegations of infidelity and drug use would hit the standard of actual malice.
In any defamation action, truth is an absolute defense. McGinnis is a well known writer and his book is being published by a major publishing house. Their lawyers would have poured over the book and the sources McGinnis used to write the book. It is hard to believe that McGinnis would have written this and the publisher publish the book without it being seriously sourced.
If it is not true, you can expect a lawsuit from Palin.
One thing is for certain. The politics of personal destruction is alive and well.

Permalink Reply by Ann G on I was amazed with the courage displayed by Palin when she met the crowd in Iowa. There was one fellow who gave me the creeps. Anyway, RFK did that, and we all know what happened.
I don't think she is naive, though...I think she is 'protected'...like Reagan was. Just IMHO...
